President Barack Obama's Inauguration Speech

Beginning at 12:07 pm on January 20, 2009, President Barack Hussein Obama gives his first address as he delivers his inauguration speech to the people.

He begins by stating that he is humbled by the overwhelming support of the people.

I was only able to catch a few fragments of this speech, but it will be printed here in its entirety as soon as possible.

President Obama's words:
But know this America, they will be met. We are here this day because we have chosen hope over fear."

We remain a young nation, but in the words of scripture, the time has come to put away our childish ways.

We remain the most prosperous and powerful nation on earth.

Our capacity remains undiminished. But our time of standing pat is finished.

We must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin the work of rebuilding our nation.

We will harness the winds, the sun and soil to fuel our cars and feed our nation.

What the cynics fail to understand is that the ground has shifted beneath them.

Those of us who manage the public accounts will be held accountable and business will be done in the light of day.

The nation cannot prosper along when it favors only the prosperous.

We are ready to lead once more.

We are the keepers of this legacy.

With all friends and former foes, we will work to end the nuclear threat.

Our Spirit is stronger and it cannot be broken.

We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and atheists.
America must play its role in establishing mutual peace.

To the people of poor nations, know that we mean to work alongside you to feed your hungry and make sure that pure waters flow.

Much of the above is only excerpts.

What is required of us now is a new era of responsibility.
[Obama quoted Washington's words about a future world and the common enemy at our gates.]

Thank you and
God Bless the United States of America.

(This speech is very fragmented because I could not type fast enough. I was enthralled by the speech enough to listen. I will retrieve a full copy and post it here.)

UPDATE: At 1:03 pm President Barack Obama goes through the signing process at the Capitol. He signed some important documents for some new policies.
