But President Obama, the White House and fellow Democrats should be reminded one thing: there are still millions of Americans seeking jobs, or underemployed. Simply put, improve from nine percent to 8.6 is not good enough. Just consider this stat: No president since Franklin D. Roosevelt has won re-election with an unemployment rate over 7.2%.
It is certainly not good enough for Barack Obama to decisively win 2012 general election. Economy should be better than this. According to a CNN/ORC International poll released last week, only 15% say economic conditions are good, while six out of seven say conditions are poor, with a majority saying they are "very poor."
First step to building upon this improvement is to pass the American Jobs Act. This would put millions of teachers, construction works and police officers back to work.
